Our History
Ashlars Lodge No. 1185 was chartered on October 11, 2025, bringing together Brothers dedicated to the timeless principles of Freemasonry. Our Lodge serves the communities of Wheeling and Mount Prospect, Illinois, carrying forward a tradition that spans centuries.
As a new Lodge, we are building upon the strong foundation of Masonic values while embracing the opportunities of our time to serve our community and support the growth of our members.
Our Mission
Ashlars Lodge is committed to making good men better through the practice of Freemasonry. We provide a fraternal environment where men of integrity can develop themselves intellectually, morally, and spiritually.
We are dedicated to serving our community through charitable works, supporting our members in times of need, and preserving the ancient traditions and teachings of Freemasonry for future generations.
What is Freemasonry?
Freemasonry is the world's oldest and largest fraternity. It is comprised of adult men (18+) of good character from every country, religion, race, age, income, education, and opinion, who believe in a Supreme Being.
Freemasonry's singular purpose is to make good men better and its bonds of friendship, compassion, and brotherly love have survived even the most divisive political, military, and religious conflicts through the centuries.
Freemasonry is neither a forum nor a place of worship. It is not a religion nor does it teach a religious philosophy. However, it does require that all members profess a faith in a Supreme Being.
Our Values
Brotherly Love
Every true Freemason will show tolerance and respect for the opinions of others and behave with kindness and understanding to his fellow creatures.
Relief
Freemasons are taught to practice charity and to care for their own and for the community as a whole through charitable giving and volunteer efforts.
Truth
Freemasons strive for truth in all things, requiring high moral standards and aiming to achieve them in their own lives.
